What Is the FLAMES Calculator?
The FLAMES Calculator is a classic name-based relationship game. You enter your name and another person's name, and the tool runs the FLAMES process automatically to show a playful result.
It is made for fun and entertainment. The result is not a scientific relationship test, but it can be a quick way to enjoy the old FLAMES game without doing the counting by hand.
What Does FLAMES Mean?
- F - Friendship
- L - Love
- A - Affection
- M - Marriage
- E - Enemy
- S - Sibling
Each letter represents one possible relationship result in the traditional game. Treat the result as a playful label, not as a serious prediction about real life.
How to Use the FLAMES Calculator

How Does the FLAMES Calculator Work?
This calculator follows the name-counting FLAMES method used in the code:
- Both names are converted to lowercase.
- Spaces are removed, so full names can still be used.
- The calculator compares the two names and removes matching letters one pair at a time.
- It counts the letters left after those matches are removed.
- That number is used to eliminate letters from the word flames until one letter remains.
- The final letter is mapped to Friendship, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemy or Sibling.
Entertainment notice: FLAMES is a traditional name game created for fun and entertainment. The result does not scientifically predict a real relationship.
Manual FLAMES Example
For example, if two names have several matching letters, those common letters are removed first. The remaining character count is then used to cross out letters from FLAMES in order. The last letter left becomes the result shown by the calculator.
