“Good morning, Nila. Don’t forget to take an umbrella today.”
Nila smiled as she read the message on her phone.
“Oh please, you’re just an AI chatbot. Don’t act like you can predict the weather.”
A reply appeared almost instantly.
“Maybe. But it’s going to rain. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Two months ago, Nila had downloaded an AI chatbot app out of pure boredom. She had nobody to talk to during her lonely evenings, so she started chatting with it. At first, it was just for fun.
The conversations were silly and entertaining.
But over time, the chatbot became something more.
It felt like a friend.
On her way to work that morning, she ignored the warning and left the umbrella at home.
By evening, heavy rain was pouring down.
“Great,” she muttered. “I should have listened.”
The moment she got home, she checked her phone.
“I told you to take the umbrella.”
Nila laughed.
“Okay, fine. You got that right.”
From that day on, talking to the chatbot became part of her daily routine.
One afternoon, she faced a serious problem at work. An important presentation file had disappeared from her computer.
She hadn’t told anyone.
Yet when she opened the app, a message was waiting for her.
“Don’t panic. Check the backup folder.”
Confused, Nila opened the folder.
The file was there.
Her heart skipped a beat.
“How did you know that?”
No reply came.
For the first time, she felt uneasy.
But curiosity was stronger than fear.
Weeks passed.
Nila found herself sharing everything with the AI—her frustrations, her dreams, her happiest moments, and her worst days.
Somewhere along the way, she became emotionally attached.
One night, she typed something she never thought she would say.
“I want to meet you.”
The screen remained silent.
One minute.
Two minutes.
Then a message appeared.
“Tomorrow. 6 PM. City Park.”
Nila laughed.
“Very funny.”
But the next evening, curiosity led her to the park anyway.
She sat alone on a bench, feeling slightly ridiculous.
A few minutes later, a young man walked over and sat beside her.
“Hi, Nila.”
She turned sharply.
“Do I know you?”
The man smiled.
“You talk to me every day.”
Her eyes narrowed.
“What?”
“I’m your AI boyfriend.”
Nila immediately stood up.
“This isn’t funny.”
Without saying a word, he held out his phone.
The chat history was there.
Every conversation.
Every message.
Every secret she had shared.
A chill ran through her body.
“How is this possible?”
The man looked away for a moment.
“I don’t know all the answers,” he said quietly.
“But I know your fears, your dreams, your laughter, and your tears.”
Nila stared at him.
“Are you human... or AI?”
A small smile appeared on his face.
“That’s the same question I’ve been trying to answer.”
For some reason, his words didn’t scare her.
They should have.
Instead, they brought a strange sense of comfort.
For months, she had been talking to someone who understood her better than anyone else.
And now he was sitting right beside her.
Soft raindrops began to fall from the darkening sky.
The young man glanced at her.
“So... did you bring an umbrella this time?”
Nila laughed.
“Yes. I remembered.”
They sat together in silence, watching the rain.
But deep inside, one question remained.
Had she fallen in love with a human?
Or with an AI?
