Beneath the Seoul Rain – A Heartwarming Romantic Love Story Set in Korea

0 readers 5 mins

The rain had been falling over Seoul since early evening.

People hurried through the busy streets of Hongdae, holding umbrellas and looking down at their phones. Cafés were full, the smell of coffee filled the air, and the city lights reflected on the wet roads.

Emma stood alone under the small roof of a convenience store. She checked her phone again. Her bus was delayed, and the battery was almost dead.

"Great," she whispered.

Just then, a tall man stopped beside her. He folded his umbrella and smiled politely.

"Looks like we're both waiting for the rain to calm down."

Emma looked up and nodded.

"Looks like it."

The stranger introduced himself as Min-jun. He worked as a graphic designer nearby. What started as a simple conversation about the weather slowly turned into something more comfortable.

They talked about work.

Then food.

Then favorite places in Seoul.

The minutes passed quickly.

When Emma's bus finally arrived, she was surprised to feel disappointed.

"It was nice talking to you," Min-jun said.

"You too."

For a moment neither of them moved.

Then he smiled and asked, "Can I get your number?"

Emma felt her heart skip a beat.

"Sure."

That night, they exchanged messages until midnight.

The next day became another conversation.

Then another.

And another.

Soon, talking to each other became part of their daily lives.

Every morning started with a simple text.

"Good morning."

Every night ended with:

"Did you get home safely?"

Weeks turned into months.

They explored Seoul together.

They walked along the Han River, visited small bookstores, shared street food in Myeongdong, and spent hours in quiet cafés talking about their dreams.

Emma noticed the little things about him.

The way he always remembered her favorite drink.

The way he slowed his pace when she was tired.

The way he listened carefully whenever she spoke.

And Min-jun noticed everything about her too.

He remembered her favorite songs.

He knew when she was stressed before she even said a word.

He could tell from a single message when something was bothering her.

One cold winter evening, snow began to fall across the city.

The streets looked beautiful under the soft white lights.

Emma and Min-jun were walking near the Han River when the snow became heavier.

They found an empty bench and sat down together.

For a while, neither of them spoke.

The city around them seemed quieter than usual.

Min-jun looked at her.

"Can I tell you something?"

Emma turned toward him.

"Of course."

He took a deep breath.

"You've changed my life."

She smiled softly.

"What do you mean?"

"I used to think I was happy on my own. I had work, friends, and everything I needed. But then I met you."

Emma felt her heartbeat become faster.

Min-jun continued.

"Now every good thing that happens during my day makes me want to tell you first."

The snow continued falling around them.

"And every difficult day feels easier because I know you're there."

Emma lowered her eyes, trying to hide her smile.

"I don't know exactly when it happened," he said. "But somewhere between our messages, our coffee dates, and our long walks, I fell in love with you."

For a moment, Emma could hear nothing except her own heartbeat.

She had imagined this moment many times.

Yet now that it was happening, words felt impossible.

Finally, she looked into his eyes.

"I was wondering how long it would take you to say that."

Min-jun laughed.

Emma reached for his hand.

"Because I love you too."

The world seemed to stop for a second.

No traffic.

No noise.

Just two people sitting together under the falling snow.

Min-jun gently squeezed her hand.

Neither of them needed a long speech.

Neither of them needed grand promises.

The simple truth was enough.

They had found comfort in each other.

A best friend.

A safe place.

A home.

As the snow covered the streets of Seoul, they sat together watching the city lights shine in the distance.

And for the first time, both of them felt exactly where they were meant to be. ❤️
